Clear your doubts about visas

How do I apply for a visa?

Except as mentioned above, all visa applicants must make two appointments, one for collection of biometric information at the Service Centre for Visa Applicants (CASV) and another for a visa interview at the Embassy or Consulate. Access the section Applying for a visa for more information.

Is there a visa application fee?

Yes, a non-refundable visa application fee (MRV) in Brazilian real is charged for each application. Please visit the visa application fee page for rates. The MRV fee can be paid by credit card through the appointment booking website or by phone. Another option is to pay by boleto at any bank in the boleto network.

Can I schedule my interviews at CASV and at the Embassy/Consulate for the same day?

In Brasília, Rio de Janeiro, Recife and Porto Alegre, depending on the availability of vacancies, it is possible to make the appointments for CASV and Embassy/Consulate on the same day.

If there is no availability for the same day, or if the applicant chooses to appear at another location, appointments may be made on consecutive days. That is, it is possible to schedule the visit to the CASV on one day and the interview at the Consulate/Embassy on the following day. To facilitate this process, CASVs will be open on Sundays. CASV appointments can be made from one (1) to eight (8) days before your interview at the embassy or consulate. If there is no CASV near the applicant's residence, unfortunately, he/she will have to travel twice or stay overnight in the city chosen for the interview.

If my visa is granted, how will I receive my passport back? The average processing time is ten (10) business days after the interview at the Consulate/Embassy, unless an administrative processing is necessary. To find out about the delivery of your passport, please go to the CASV website. Information will be available 5 days after your interview. If you do not receive your passport at the given address within the medium term, please send an email to: contactus_pt_br@usvisa-info.com. We recommend that applicants do not make any travel reservations before receiving the passport with the visa.

If my visa application is denied, how long should I wait before applying again? You can reapply for your visa at any time by scheduling a new interview. You will have to submit new forms and pay a new visa application fee. You can choose to wait until the circumstances of your social, professional, economic, and financial ties with Brazil change, as they will be reviewed again in a new interview.
