Living in Florida: best cities

2022 was a record year for Brazilians in the United States: more than 23,000 got their green cards. Seeking stability and security, more and more Brazilians are immigrating to the United States.

And Florida is a favorite state for Brazilians and other Latin immigrants, whether for its mild climate or its pleasant beaches and cities.

Entertainment for the whole family

You've probably heard of the famous theme parks in Orlando. This Florida city alone has more than 140 parks, gardens, playgrounds and recreational areas, making it the most visited city in the United States in 2022.

Less taxes and a better quality of life

Unlike California - another state beloved by Brazilian immigrants - Florida is one of the states with the lowest tax burden for individuals in the United States.

According to data from the U.S. Census Bureau, Florida is the sixth state with the lowest tax burden in the United States. In addition, the state does not charge the famous State Income Tax - this state income tax can exceed 10% in the states of California, Hawaii and New Jersey.

Florida has an excellent human development index (HDI): 0.911. By way of comparison, the best HDIs in Brazil according to the IBGE are: Distrito Federal (0.814), São Paulo (0.806) and Santa Catarina (0.792).

Florida is an excellent destination for you and your family in the United States. Good public and private schools, universities, great quality of life and a good job market. Here's a look at some of the cities loved by Floridians, tourists and migrants to enjoy all year round with your family:

Best cities to enjoy in Florida

Sarasota

Located in a county of the same name, this coastal city boasts famous white sand beaches and a diverse cultural life. Attractions such as the Sarasota Opera and the Florida Studio Theatre are part of this city that is known as Florida's cultural coast. There are also many restaurants, shopping centers, parks and places to enjoy with the whole family in this city that is loved by American tourists and retirees.

Tampa

With excellent public schools, this city located in the Hillsborough district is an excellent choice for families. With the infrastructure of a major city center and access to beaches and parks, this vibrant historic city has a strong Cuban and Latino community. The city is also home to two important universities, the University of South Florida and the University of Tampa. Tampa also has great leisure options, such as The Florida Aquarium, considered one of the best aquariums in the USA, and Lowry Park Zoo, which has already been voted the best aquarium for family outings in the United States.

Naples

Boasting beautiful beaches with crystal-clear waters and white sand, Naples is a paradise for nature lovers. Located in southwest Florida, this city is close to Everglades National Park, the third largest national park in the United States. In Naples, you can take a boat trip to see dolphins and turtles, practice stand up paddle and visit the Ten Thousand Islands, a huge complex of preserved islands and mangroves. It's no coincidence that Naples is known as the Paradise Coast - the city also has museums, art galleries, shopping centers, water parks and luxury hotels.

Jacksonville

Located on the northeast coast of Florida, Jacksonville is one of the largest cities in the United States and the 12th most populous in the country. More than 22 miles of white sandy beaches await you in Jacksonville, which also boasts the St. Johns River and other beach and water attractions. In Jacksonville your whole family can enjoy parks, cultural tours, historical sites and shopping malls: a perfect mix of beach and metropolis. And despite its many attractions, the cost of living in Jacksonville is relatively affordable compared to other tourist cities in Florida.
